Sign In With Vipps: A Faster Way Into Your Idntfy Account
You can now sign in to Idntfy with Vipps. It works for shoppers and for the people who manage a brand account, and it is available from today.
If you are in Denmark or Finland, the same thing works through MobilePay. It is the same company and the same login, with a different name on the app.
Why we added it
Most people in Norway already have Vipps open on their phone. The same is true of MobilePay in Denmark and Finland. Asking someone to invent a password for one more service, when the app they use every week can confirm who they are, is friction with no purpose.
There is a second reason. An Idntfy account holds your measurements and your body profile, which is more personal than an order history. The fewer passwords involved in protecting that, the better. There is no Idntfy password to reuse, leak or reset if you never make one.
What this means if you shop
You tap the Vipps button. Your phone opens the app, you confirm, and you are back on Idntfy signed in.
There is nothing to type and nothing to remember later. Your Vipps profile is already tied to a verified identity, so the account you land in is yours and stays yours.
Your body profile stays the same wherever you use it. Sign in from one brand's store, and your measurements and preferences are there when you shop with the next one.
What this means if you work for a brand
Brand accounts can use Vipps sign-in as well, which is mainly useful for teams.
Everyone signs in as themselves instead of sharing one login between four people. New colleagues get access without waiting for someone to pass a password along. If someone leaves the company, you remove their access in one place.
For Nordic brands it also removes a small but real hesitation at the sign-up screen, which is worth something when you are asking a team to try a new tool.
What Idntfy receives from Vipps
Two things: your full name and your email address.
That is the whole list. Vipps can share more, including your phone number, your address and your date of birth. We do not ask for any of it, because we do not need it to build a body profile.
You can see which companies you have shared data with inside the Vipps or MobilePay app, and you can withdraw that consent there whenever you want.
What has not changed
Email and password still work, and so does Google sign-in. If you already have an Idntfy account, keep using whichever way you got in. Nothing is being switched off.
Your scan video is still deleted as soon as your measurements have been produced from it. Your measurements are still yours, and you can still delete them.
Vipps sign-in changes the door, not what is behind it.
Getting started
The button is on the sign-in page, next to the Google one. If you are new, it works as a sign-up too. If you already have an Idntfy account under the same email address, signing in with Vipps takes you to that account rather than making a second one.
You need a full Vipps or MobilePay profile to use it, which means the account holder has to be at least 15 years old.
