Sign in with Google, now on Idntfy

You can now sign in to Idntfy with your Google account. It works for shoppers and for the people who manage a brand account, and it is available from today.

Why the sign-in page matters here

Most accounts hold an order history and a delivery address. An Idntfy account holds your measurements and your body profile. That is more personal than a normal login, so it is worth being careful about how you get in.

The weakest part of most accounts is the password. People reuse them across sites, and when one of those sites has a breach, the password turns up in a list somewhere. Signing in with Google removes that part of the problem, because there is no Idntfy password to reuse in the first place.

What this means if you shop

You tap one button. If you are already signed in to Google on your phone, you are into Idntfy a second later.

There is no new password to invent, and nothing to reset in six months when you have forgotten it. Idntfy never sees your Google password, because you type it into Google, not into us. If you have two-step verification on your Google account, that protection now covers your Idntfy account too.

Your profile stays the same wherever you use it. Sign in from one brand's store, and your measurements and preferences are there when you shop with the next one.

What this means if you work for a brand

Brand accounts can now use Google sign-in as well, which is mainly useful for teams.

Everyone signs in with their own work account instead of one shared login passed around in Slack. New people on the team get access without waiting for someone to send them a password. If someone leaves and their work account is closed, that route into Idntfy closes with it.

It also means one fewer password for your team to store somewhere it should not be stored.

What Idntfy receives from Google

Three things: your name, your email address, and your profile picture.

That is the whole list. We do not get your Google password, your inbox, your contacts, your calendar, or anything else in your account. You can see the permission you granted at any time in your Google account settings, and remove it there if you change your mind.

What has not changed

Email and password still work. If you already have an Idntfy account that way, keep using it. Nothing is being switched off.

Your scan video is still deleted as soon as your measurements have been produced from it. Your measurements are still yours, and you can still delete them.

Google sign-in changes the door, not what is behind it.

Getting started

The button is on the sign-in page. If you are new, it works as a sign-up too. If you already have an Idntfy account with the same email address, signing in with Google takes you to that same account rather than making a second one.
